Bill Winney, Republican Candidate for US Congress

The 2008 campaign is already quite different from the one in 2006 in which I earned 40% of the popular vote in Wyoming and won in the state's largest county, Laramie County - and in Teton County. I also received almost 48% of the popular vote in the state's second largest county: Natrona.
Seven-term incumbent Barbara Cubin has chosen not to seek re-election. As such, the field has become crowded and it is even more crucial to make my credentials, experience and leadership qualities known to all voters in Wyoming. The Winney for Congress '08 Campaign will present a much wider and deeper organization. This time around my candidacy won't surprise anyone and it will take more money to win.
The Winney for Congress '08 Campaign seeks volunteers and contributors. If you can help or donate, please do so. It is vital that Wyoming retain this Republican seat in Congress. The Democratic Party has already ensured much money has been generated for the coming Wyoming campaigns.
It is quite clear that if the Wyoming Republican Party nominates the right candidate for our US House seat that the Democrats have little hope of capturing this seat. But that is not a sure thing and we must work to get the right candidate nominated.
I believe I am that candidate. As I survey the field, I bring the right mix of strong knowledge of our federal government, fresh thinking without the label of "another politician," and a lifetime of service to our nation.
We live in an increasingly dangerous international world and face tremendous economic challenges at home. Wyoming's interests can best be represented by having a Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives.
I am attending as many functions throughout the State as possible in order to meet as many voters as I can. Since announcing my candidacy last fall I have covered over 25,000 miles in Wyoming.
If you have questions call me, I will answer all telephone calls and letter and e-mail communications from voters and residents of Wyoming.
The picture above is my then fiancè, Louise Bland. Some will look at this picture and say: "she fell for the uniform." But I want you to see the smile that I fell for. Her smile has illuminated my universe. We married just two years later, in June of 1972.
